gd to go
wow. i'm relieved. after many sleepless nights of agonizing (for me anyway), we're finally on our way!!! mmhmm. Am going to bintan this weekend with my choir buddies. Actually, i am pretty amazed, cos the trip actually materialized in the end?? Like most in the clique are gg am i'm like... yayyyy!!!! heh. i suppose tht happens when you want smth bad enough. You'll just go all the way to ensure that it does happen? Now if only i can channel such energies into my future academic course/ career. Although honestly, it really is my first time organizing such a thing. mmhmm. was pretty stressed over it.

Mmmm. Working working working... working is actually pretty enjoyable. makes the time go by so fast you don't realize it, but what really matters is you're actually earning $$ by the hour you're sitting at that desk. Otherwise everytime you go out, you are spending and spending.. *haix* i nd better money management skills. Although i have feeling the only thing i really splurge on is FOOD. Yea, and transport... Just don't have the time to shop these days, which is a gd thing la.
My colleagues in my unit are really nice pple, i'm so glad. Cos it's really different in the dept just nxt to ours, can really see the politics , bitchiness at work. Like today, these 2 women were really arguing at the top of their voices. Actually 1 was reprimanding the other, and obviously the other lady wasn't too happy abt it. heh. difficult wrking with female bosses, that i agree. But my mentor is really nice, she's the deputy manager and yea, she's damn patient when explaining stuff to me. And she really shows me how stuff are done, not like other pple's horror stories where the temps just get thrown into the deep end. (and fired when they're not up to std.) Mmhmm. so my 2wk stint has been extended, cos my other colleague has happily took leave... and so has the head of our dept. insufficient manpower atm. hmmm. can see the stress levels has gone up for my mentor, so i try to be as unobtrusive as posiible, and help her clear some of the itty bitty but equally annoying paperwrk.
My dept is in charge of handling all the legal documentation that comes in b4 loans actually get approved, so we hafta go through lotsa those legal documents everyday. Files after files.... -_- Heh. They were all greek to me initially, but yea, at least i know wad's what now . =) Although i've still got lots more to learn. Like, i still've no idea wad a swap transaction is for instance. Cos i keep seeing tht. Anyone cares to explain to me how tht wrks?
Heh so what i do is to classify/name the doc, scan it into the system and update the database. Then after thtlock the hard-copies in the safe. *laughs* like, top secret stuff!!!! Sounds easy, heh but yea, when u attempt reading and understanding all those legal jargon... you'll be like that x_X. I find myself stoning qte often, especially after lunch!!! Oh yea, the office scanner was my best friend the 1st few days! cos i was literally hogging it. Then must keep applying courtesy when other wanna photocopy their stuff. It's a 3-in-1 scanner cum printer cum photocopier. Yea, and all hell breaks loose when there's a PaPer JaM.. heh. as i witnessed in amusement when it happened. A mini crowd formed arnd the machine attempting to solve the problem. This guy was like saying, " just turn it off, give it a few knocks, turn it on agn, can already! " haha. in the end it was a lady colleague who solved the problem la!! She opened up the machine to check and rectify. yea. but i think the 3-in-1 thing is pretty impressive, very high-tech and user-friendly.
thn i also do other miscellaneous stuff like... running errands for my mentor. eg. despatching documents for the other dept pple to sign. kinda enjoy tht actually, cos i get to walk around and visit pple frm other depts. my mentor was saying this to me, " hmm. i think all the men downstairs are getting to know you. " now, why does tht sound a lil wrong?? I suppose the other thing abt the office is that, everyone's really segregated by their cubicle area? Like, you can be working on the same floor and still NOT KNOW each other? very impersonal. Wasn't used to it when i first came in.
hahaa.. there's this really really cute accounting officer tht keeps coming to my area =). as for the other temps, i'm very close to this other girl wrking in my dept. usually lunch with her... thn there's another temp guy who came in with me, but was relegated to gdness knows where in the office. haha. i finally know where he sits le, after i passed smth to this other AO to sign. yea. the office is actually 3 storeys... 45th, 46th and 47th. the 47th is the executive floor for all the big bosses, and i wldn't know who they are even if i take the same lift up with thm!!! cos they hardly come to the 45th/46th. or maybe they do. but i dunno it's thm.
heh. tired le. maybe i'll continue this another day.

Designers do make quirky friends!! so what happened today was i had lunch in the area, was walking arnd after tht, and happened to chance upon this bikini shop. The guy manning the store there is actually the man behind this whole series of bikinis. It's a local brand which has pretty decent designs and gd quality. heh. more importantly, it doesn't hurt the pocket tht much. =) I was pretty impressed when he went round explaining the details of the designs, you know the lining, paddings and stuff. Kinda reminded me of the hk movie... Jue2 shi4 hao3 bra?? Lol. heh. a man who knows his herm. bikinis? =p Yea, and he was really open to feedback and all... cos i was telling him abt my bikini which co-incidentally is not from tht shop, but yea it's the same brand! To think i'm meeting the guy who designed it? Yep, the shenton way branch is the main branch, which is why he's there. Then he was recommending me afew colours and designs... esp this white one he claims he can see me in. Now tht was weird. But yea, i'm pretty much sold, gg back 2 get a new one soon, cos i didn't have enough cash tday. Hopefully smth fits la. haha. so much for not shopping.

feeling more unsure thn ever abt stuff? or maybe it's cos i'm unwilling to accept things the way they are. i'm stubborn in tht way... altho i don't feel any better inside. miserable actually.
kel u're right you know. so hard to find someone to share with. I mean, like even a simple chat on the phone will make you feel tons better?! but you realize, there isn't anyone you can call and really have a heart-to-heart with. all are too busy, engaged, attached to their better halves..hrmph =s
holding on to something for too long is just too tiring. i'm giving up already. i just want myself to be happy. Although i'm only happy when others are, so yea. it's one lousy vicous cycle.

stones taught me to fly
i first heard this song (Damien Rice's cannonball) whilst on my nz vacation, and this particular line of the lyrics just stood out amongst the rest. Maybe because the idea is absurd if you take it literally? haha. but i immediately linked it to nj. *smiles* wonder if anyone else did the same??
Let's just say i started out... not intending to stay on in nj beyond the 1st 3mnths. But alg the way i had a change of heart? I liked the people there, still do. =) everyone's genuine.. and nice. It's been a fruitful 2 years. No doubt there were rough patches along the way... the stress, the "i don't feel like coming to schl today *sulks* " whining. heh. But there were also the lovely times spent amongst friends, the choir and *gasp* i even miss the lectures and tutorials. (*cue xiaomin nodding off* ) lol.
The release of the results have brought a proper closure to this chapter of my life, and it's a pretty neat fullstop. Am looking forward to more new beginnings!
