That I would be good - Alanis Morissette
That I would be good even if I did nothing
That I would be good even if I got the thumbs down
That I would be good if I got and stayed sick
That I would be good even if I gained ten pounds
That I would be fine even if I went bankrupt
That I would be good if I lost my hair and my youth
That I would be great if I was no longer Queen
That I would be grand if I was not all knowing
That I would be loved even when I numb myself
That I would be good even when I am overwhelmed
That I would be loved even when I was fuming
That I would be good even if I was clingy
That I would be good even if I lost sanity
That I would be good
Whether with or without you..

depressed. repressed. suppressed. stressed.
heyhey whaddaya know... it all rhymes. i badly need a pick-me-up now, but there doesn't seem to be any coming up, anytime soon anyway. had a relaxing day at home, but i'm sorta bracing myself for this tsunami of deadlines that are about to hit me. gawd, and i feel really alone. although everyone else is more or less going thru the same thing over the nxt few weeks, it really isn't much comfort.
just wanna run away from it all.
a hug and chocolates please.

pssssst
lol. am blogging now from some anonymous location in schl tht my friend has sworn me to secrecy abt.
heh. today's pretty much a happnening day in smoo, and for once, school really did feel like a school, what with the makeshift tennis, bball, hockey/floorball courts, rock-wall, and get this...an ice skating rink! sigh u lucky folks with leisure facilities in ur uni shld treasure them !!!!!
well highlights of the day: i got to "ice-skate" on campus !!!and i got a yellow cheery smiley helium balloon! yay. aha, cheap thrills. aiya. i suppose it's for the novelty of the idea. like, just the idea of ice-skating in campus in hot sunny singapore itself is pretty absurd, we were pretty much anticipating what it'd be like. Lotsa silly jokes around... think rh's was the killer. "1st we play ice-hockey, then we end up playing water polo !!!! " and another of similar variety... erm skate first... swim later?!
but yea, was still pretty shacked from staying up late last nite so wasn't really in the mood to play the other games. heh. lis and xm and co did tho, and they sure looked like they had fun =) and ice-skating was pretty cheesy la, lol was going round and round tht mini-tennis court sized place, and it wasn't ice we had, just some special polymer material tht was super slippery, and since there was no ice for the blades to cut into there was this tendency for your blades to slip apart sideways pretty easily. =s heh. oh well. shall attempt to be more graceful on ice nxt time, today was more of elephant on ice plastic or sth, just thankful i didn't fall. met tong on the way, and she was damn funny, she was like "aiya feel so cheated leh! came to schl specially for ice-skating, then it's like tht! "
heh. kla. enough of crap. shall nap. over and out!

Banana Pancakes~ Jack Johnson
Can't you see that it's just raining
There ain't no need to go outside
but baby..
You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song it's meant to keep you
From doing what you're supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I'll make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it's the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just raining
There ain't no need to go outside
But just maybe, hala ka ukulele
Mama made a baby
I really don't mind the practice
Because you're my little lady
Lady, lady love me
Because I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains
Pretend like there's no world outside
And we could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just raining
There ain't no need to go outside
Ain't no need, ain't no need
Can't you see, can't you see
Rain all day and I don't mind
Telephone singing, ringing, it's too early
Don't pick it up
We don't need to
We got everything we need right here
And everything we need is enough
It's just so easy
When the whole world fits inside of your arms
Do we really need to pay attention to the alarm
Wake up slow, wake up slow
But baby, you hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song it's meant to keep you
From doing what you're supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I'll make you banana pancakes
Pretend like it's the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can't you see that it's just raining
There ain't no need to go outside
Ain't no need, ain't no need
Rain all day and I really really really don't mind
Can't you see, can't you see
We've got to wake up slow
========================
mmm.. lovely song.. hahah. esp to pple who absolutely love sleeping in like me. heh. wake up slow, darlin'

outdoor classroom
me and elisa went for an industrial visit to pan pac hotel yesterday morning. It was interesting! beats learning in class any day hands down. so the really nice lady sharon gave us a brief intro to the history of the hotel.... heh. i can like rattle the facts offhand now
the building took 360 mill to construct, It's operator managed by Pan Pac Hotels and Resort. For the hotel industry, "branding" of the operators' name really matter. Makes a huge difference in management fees paid to the operators 50% owned by tokyu corp, 50% owned by i can't remember who (local)... The japanese take up the largest percentage of its client base. It has a variety of restaurants, serving western, indian, japanese, cantonese, and italian cuisine. So on top of occupancy earnings, earnings also come from F&B. 2 out of 5 of the restaurants are sublet out to tenants. They target mid-high end to high-end clients- especially business travellers due to their close proximity to suntec convention ctr and take pride in giving personalized service. motto: "personalized care, because we genuinely care."
Facilities we visted included a nice lighting ambience bar which was recently renovated (there's this lovely mosaic art piece of vanda miss joaquim which costs US$20K just to use the artist's design- cost of tiles non-inclusive), an outdoor poolside deli/bar also recently renovated to give tht resort feel, an entire floor which makes up the business executive centre and a japanese zen garden. =) A deli with their own "butchery", they make their own sausages! tht's why u can see "pan pac" brand sausages in carrefour/cold storage sometimes. only siwissotel and them have that. Fun fact: the hotel ceiling is so high that they can let off firewrks indoors during new year and other festive occasions..
It was fun exploring the behind the scenes operations side to the hotel. It was a maze "backstage", literally. Felt like Alice In Wonderland. We visited the laundry room. Heh. i'm 1 of those who always wondered what goes on, cos you know u always get nicely neatly pressed clothes in plastic packaging returned to you aftr you send them to the laundry? So the hotel only does tht for their guests, employees uniforms too i think.. The rest like linen, banquet tablecloths have been outsourced. They also have their own personal staff cafeteria. Cool stuff, with their own chef cooking for them. Imagine, having hotel standard food for meals daily !! *drool*
Me and elisa were the only year 1s there for the tour, ahahh. so extra. but yea, honestly we just wanted to have a look-see, "go there and play~" =p Yup, but it definitely ain't easy working in the hospitality industry, behind the "glamour" of the job you see 6 days wks, no public holidays, no offs during wkends. (sounds darn familiar to when i was doing waitressing) yep, and one must genuinely possess the heart to serve, enjoy doing so, and be prepared to be at the beck and call of guests otherwise, *dehhhhh* you'll be pretty miserable on the job. wise words from the management trainer who warmly showed us around.
yup, me thinks when time allows, i'll just sign up for more of such tours in the future. heh. i apologize if you find the above entry totally dry and boring and fact-filled. trying to keep note before i forget the technical stuff, cos some may come in handy for my MA project.

Just do it, anyway.
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be
shot down by the smallest person with the smallest mind.
Think big anyway.
What you spend years building may
be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack if you help them.
Help people anyway.
The one you love may tear your heart into a million pieces one day
Love anyway.
Give the world the best you have
and you might get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
- unknown
found the above when i trawled the web in the midst of mugging for bgs. (damn am i so screwed for that, but i digress) heh. so i just might be inclined to flunk the upcoming test, but you know what.... i'll just mug for it, anyway. =p i have so found my newest philosophy in life.
just a recap of the past wk, in which... i happily whittled away. did nadda in terms of catching up on uni wrk. and in between going to schl for the various proj meetings, found time to meet up with various grps of pple, which was a refreshing recharging experience from the pressures of smoo-life.
1)my fellow hanabi waitresses at the art musuem's venezia
interesting to see how those days of working side-by-side together did bond us, in a way which i never thought wld. fast-forward to today, and we've... each moved on since, changed "jobs" (my current status reads "student"), fallen in/out of love...To that i say, aye, it's okay to hurt, nurse your wounds, but get back stronger, and find tht happiness you deserve. which i know you will~ it just... takes time. *hugz* do take care yea. sigh, men. such jerks/bastards at times, but you can never do completely without them, try as you might to convince yourself otherwise. now i kinda prefer boys. =p aha. i must mention the cute waiter tht was shyan's friend, or rather her younger bro's gd friend. 1) he was charmingly eloquent. 2) highly attentive 3) and treated us to vanilla ice-cream with a shot of expresso coffee tht he diy-ed. and he cooks!! plus plus plus dunno how many points. =D ah, tsktsk, sr the paedo.
i suppose its nice with this bunch, the ever supportive netwrk of girl-friends that you know are more or less, here to stay.
hmm. this includes clara yit pq ht and june!! tho i'm really sry for not being able to be there for most of your outings. heh, kel, el, xm and becks too. tho i honestly wonder when we'll eventually get to see each other, the busy folks we are, lol.
2)dinner/supper at 16 lou with my aunt, cuz and her hostel mates
her 2 buddies were interesting company. yk somehow reminded me of ben. that adorable clue-lessness and sheepishness, can see he's trying hard tho, which was amusing. glad to see that she's in good hands with her bunch of friends. heh i'm sorta fiercely protective of my cuz, afterall, we've grown up together and know each other inside out, including our ugly, nasty sides.
3)03s22 at nj's open house...and our ever nostalgic hangout at "the prince"
it was heartwarming talking to the teachers. mr d, mr gwee, mr james lim.. heh. nice to know that you're remembered even though a few might've forgotten your name. tho i guess i felt awkwardly "old" in the midst of tht sea of fresh expectant, young faces. heh. i must say tht the open hse was amazingly "happening"... there was decidedly this carnival-like atmosphere, what with a walking furry lion mascot tht me and xm posed for a polaroid pict with, and candy-floss, the "mcdonalds" color themed canteen -_-...thumbs up to the mktg manz, "nj amazes", i'm suree. but it does look attractive fr. an outsider's perspective. aha. told jh abt tht, and he went... when they get in, they'll know, in tht ominous tone.
much has changed in a year, for ONE... we had a car or rather a van, to drive us out of school with!! lol. kudos to josh's driving skills. he's goood, without being horribly reckless, unlike how most other guys with their newly acquired licenses are. tho i hafta admit it's kinda thrilling hanging on to dear life in their cars.
4) swimming and dinner/supper at prata cafe with jh. felt great, must've been the combination of the endorphins fr. our exercise, gd food, gd conversation and company. =) ahem. nvr felt tht relaxed and satisfied in awhile.... funniest thing was the entire diving/training pool was filled with floating dead insects...urgh *shudders* to which i suspected it was cos i wasn't wearing my specs nor contacts so i was half-blind at tht momment. "out of sight, out of mind" ya know? otherwise i wldn't have swam the few laps in there tht we did on my own free will. lol, then we ended up swimming in the kids' pool instead, which was thankfully, cleaner.. and was at a grand depth of 0.9m to 1.2 m !!! tadaaa. hilarious stuff. stayed there till the lifeguards switched off the lights to kindly tell us to get out. thn had a nice meal at the prata cafe before he walked me all the way back home. sweet. heh, wonderful way to end the wk.
and NOW to whack the bks like there's no tmr. sigh. -_-

hey there
well. i kinda survived a depressing wk. i foresee impending pms. it wasn't that bad i guess, when everything's over and you're looking back at it. they were afterall just, minor snippets in this long film we call life. starring? yourself.
noticed that one of my friend's nick was "getting disillusioned with life." how apt. aren't we all? people ard me just can't wait to leave/escape sg, tht some way or the other you get affected by tht negativity. doesn't help to see your friends blogging happily and showing lotsa gorgeous photos abt their new life overseas and you thinking, that just as easily cld have been ME. darn. sour grapes. someone just tell me wad we're working so hard for? sometimes i just don't see the light, rhyme or reason why i'm doing wad i'm doing now. where's the passion tht drives a person? i've kinda left it behind somewhere along the way. just pushing myself along cos tht's the path i've chosen to take, and perhaps, in a way, by default. but you make the best out of what u have i guess. "when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade."
caught virgin at 40 some trashy sexual humor laden show. was qte crap. darn, i reallyy wanted to watch corpse brideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. *whine* caught afew familiar faces in town tonight, ming and vi who was with his bro! and sam to name a few, or rather the few. heh. sg's just so small. then we headed off to jazz@southbridge dwn boat quay. nice cosy little nook they have there. was really in awe by the jazz pianist. she was damn zaiiiiii. but i kinda realize the genre of jazz i prefer is actually bossa nova. the very brazilian, holiday relaxing kinda feel type. the set we caught tdy was not tht i can say, heh. but the vocalist was full of spunk and attitude, and the band members were totally in sync with one another. stayed till they ended their last song and the pub closed at...2sth? cool stuff. nxt stop. actors the musical pub!

mood music
currently in love with my new toy, the creative zen neeon.i realize i'm qte a tech geek,i like playing around with all these small, sleek, sophisticated gadgets.

sweeet. =) heh. but you'll cry if you see which sticker i chose to put on top of the black finish so that it'll be erm, less boring.
i have yet to think of a name for him/her. suggestions? i swear the player knows my moods. the random function plays whatever music accordingly, calming my frazzled nerves with soothing jazz when i'm in *sian mode*, giving me a lil pick-me-up with more uptempo beats when the time calls for it. rocking on.
